I first started experimenting with 35mm film in the summer of 2024. I purchased a simple point and shoot camera which is perfect for taking everywhere as it’s so compact. I tried different film stocks to see what I liked and didn’t like. Many times at the beginning I would get my scans back and realise I had made some huge mistakes when shooting which was frustrating but the feeling of not knowing what your images look like until you finish the roll however, is addictive!

All these photos were taken at the first two sessions where I used my film camera.

After many failed attempts with different film stocks and practice rolls, I finally feel like I can confidently use my camera and achieve my desired look.

35mm film has a distinct feel, with it’s grainy aesthetic and depth. The results achieved with 35mm film stocks cannot be replicated in digital photography- I think that’s what makes it so special to me and why so many people love it.

I’ve been using my film camera on all my sessions to gain a portfolio of work and I am simply obsessed with how some of the images have turned out. I now offer exclusively film sessions for those wanting an authentic and nostalgic gallery much like the ones that take you back to childhood, looking through old photos.

The film stock I used for both of these sessions was exactly the same but due to the different light scenarios, you can see they produced an entirely different look. That’s what I love so much about film! It can be so versatile based on your lighting, time of day and the way you use the camera.
